Peer Counselling in Tallinn – Support for Anxiety, Grief & understanding a loved one with ADHD

I offer compassionate, experience-based peer counseling in Tallinn in English and online for individuals navigating life’s challenges. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, processing grief, supporting a loved one with an ADHD diagnosis, or moving through recovery from addiction, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where your story matters, and change is possible.

You don’t need to be “at your worst” to seek support. Sometimes you simply need someone who truly listens.

About Me

My name is Katre Kalaus — a trained and practicing peer counsellor based in Tallinn with experience in supporting people through emotional upheaval and life transitions. I have completed formal peer counseling training and continue to develop my practice through ongoing supervised experience. My work is grounded in empathy, lived experience, and respect for your individual story.

On a daily basis, I work as a sales representative for business customers and am also the technical manager at the NGO Sa Suudad. I enjoy developing myself through various training courses, watching good TV series and films, and riding my motorcycle in the summer.

Sessions are offered:

In person (Tallinn)

Online (via video call)

In English and Estonian

Areas of Focus

It is my personal experience that helps me understand, not judge. I do not offer quick fixes or “right answers,” but I am by your side as you seek clarity, support, and new ways to move forward.

Anxiety and panic disorder

Anxiety and panic attacks

I experienced anxiety to a greater or lesser extent even as a child. I remember how my heart would always race before competitions. At the time, I didn’t know how to describe this feeling as anxiety. As an adult, my anxiety returned with a vengeance, and eventually I started having panic attacks. Through therapy, medication, and inner work, I was able to overcome my anxiety, and I haven’t had a panic attack in years

Addiction problems and risky behavior

Addiction

To “alleviate” anxiety and depression, I often turned to alcohol and drugs, because they made me feel confident. In reality, this did me more harm than good, because the anxiety I felt the day after the party was many times greater. I also found relief from anxiety at casinos. If only intoxicants help to alleviate your inner pain, you can get help from counseling.

Grief and loss

Grief and loss

In 2012-13, I lost both my grandparents in quick succession to strokes, and I was by my grandmother’s side when she took her last breath. I felt alone in my grief. I didn’t know how to ask for help, nor did I want to, and I suppressed my feelings for years. However, the grief stayed with me for years and was one of the main reasons why I developed an anxiety disorder. Grief can also be the end of a relationship (friendship), the loss of a pet, or the departure of a loved one.

ADHD, ATH

Close one with ADHD

Is your loved one constantly late and postponing plans? Does it sometimes take several days to respond to messages? Do they have more ideas and plans than you can keep up with? They start cleaning the closet but then suddenly decide to paint the ceiling? You probably feel that you are not on the same wavelength and that your loved one is emotionally distant or even ignoring you. This may not be the case, as your loved one’s brain chemistry works differently. I can support you in understanding your loved one and making sense of their behavior

How it works?

Experience counseling is an individual conversation that takes place at a relaxed pace, where you can talk about your experiences in a safe and non-judgmental space. My role is to listen, make sense of what is happening with you, and support you in coping with anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, grief or understanding your loved one with ADHD.
